Applying Microsoft Security Guidance Hands-on Lab

IMG, together with Microsoft, is pleased to offer you a free 1-day security hands-on lab! This course will provide you with functional skills in planning and implementing infrastructure security that aligns with the Trustworthy Computing initiative. After completing these Hands-on Labs, you will leave with a familiarity of key security concepts and an understanding of how to configure, maintain, and manage Microsoft operating systems and applications more securely.

After completing the Security Hands-on Lab, students will be able to:

	Implement Group Policy
	Create and work with user accounts and security groups
	Implement account policies and security templates
	Implement security for Web services
	Monitor events and intruder detection
	Manage software and security updates

CWUG General Meeting

The next CWUG meeting is scheduled for Thursday October 21 @5:00 at the Microsoft Offices in Downers Grove.

Session A Desktop	Desktop Spyware and Malware - What To Do To Protect or Clean Your System. In this level 200 session we will cover what is spyware and malware and how to protect your system and what if you need to clean a infect system. Session B Desktop	Desktop Top Ten Tricks for Windows XP. In this level 200 session we will cover the top ten (in our opinion) tricks to making Windows XP go faster, be more productive, and do cooler things then a normal install. This session will go over tweaks, utilities, changes that effect Windows XP is a positive manner. We are looking from someone from the community to lead this session so if you have strong skills in this area and would like to present please contact Robert Nottoli robnotto@cwug.net
Session C Server	Server Identity Management - What Is It And How Do I Benefit From It? In this level 100 session we will cover what is Identity Management and how does it benefit my organization. Topics will cover directories, single sign on, password management directory synchronization. This session will be led by Berbee.
Session D Server	High Availability Solutions for Windows Server. Syllabus still being determined
Session E Developer	Business Case Study #1. We will have 2 companies come in and talk about what they did to create a .Net based solution. In addition the Developer group will need to strategize on sessions for the next 6 months so we can put them together.
Session F Developer	Business Case Study #2. We will have 2 companies come in and talk about what they did to create a .Net based solution. In addition the Developer group will need to strategize on sessions for the next 6 months so we can put them together.
